had bunion surgery.. and the cold is bothering it now.. why?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

ive been told by people that had similar surgeries done to their feet that the cold will bother your feet, and rain also. but my doctor told me that since my bunion surgery wasnt directly in my joint that it wouldnt bother me when weather got cold and with rain, however since i had the surgery with the titanium screw put into my bone, and ever since its gotten cold sometimes it throbs for a little and goes away completely.. could i have arthritis in my toe already? its dec 23rd 09 i had it operated on july 21st 09 and ill be 26 on december 28th.. im still young.. if the screw is not in my toe joint, why has it been hurting off and on?! ugh! im really active and i know now that my foot is never going to be the same, but at least now i can run and walk without the horrible pain..

thanks for your help!

merry xmas!

How do I know if what I have is plantar fascitis or a heel spur?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I've had pretty severe heel pain for just over one year. I have high arches, have tried the arch supports, heel pads, etc. Alot of people answer these kind of questions with "Go to the doctor", forgetting that not all people have insurance. I'm obviously not going to die from it, I just haven't met anyone yet who suffers from either. The pain radiates, is sometimes burning(nerve?), sometimes stinging, always aching. Should I just cut it off? LOL
I am limping daily. I want to go out hiking, but the payback is a bitch. I do small stretching daily, pulling my toes back, And I take ibuprofen and naproxen regularly.

Treatment for pain on side of foot?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I have no idea how or why, but the outside of my left foot started hurting a few days ago. When I move it, it feels like there is fluid moving there (or it could just be a tendon or something stretching/ripping?). When I walk flat-footed, it is almost unbearable to walk. However, when I walk on my toes, the pain disappears. My foot looks exactly the same as before (no swelling), so it can't be a broken bone. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Bunion Surgery Post OP Recovery?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Hello I am 24 years old, 4 weeks post op from a bunion surgery. I had the v-cut in my metatarsal and the two pins placed were removed 2 days ago. Now I am in a cast like surgical boot and still on crutches. I am seeing my doctor on Monday 4/13 to look at the wound from the pins. He has been telling me I am recovering well and cosmetically the foot looks great. After the pins are removed, I get pain again aroung the bone cut. He is advising another 4 weeks on crutches. Is that how the procedure should be treated? Please response, I do not know anyone who had this done and am getting impatient.
Thanks!!!

Will this pain on the top of my foot ever go away?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I hurt my foot back in November with what my doctor speculates was probably an injury to a tendon. The pain has since gone away (it took weeks to heal), but now it's acting up every once in a while. Just walking, I would feel the pain again. I know what it's like to have those "old sores" that act up on cold days or during activity, but this pain is stopping me from getting much needed exercise. I don't want to do too much exercise for fear that I'll re-injure my foot, since I exercised yesterday, and am still feeling some light pain when I walk today.

I need to know if this pain will ever go away, or if I'm doing harm by trying to work out. I'm not doing anything labor intensive - I mean, one day, I was doing YOGA and I could feel it twinging on me. Yesterday, I was trying to do a bit of dancing, and it felt fine yesterday, it's sore today, though. I don't want to limit my activity, but I also don't want to make this pain worse.

Has anyone ever had an injury to a tendon like mine, and know how to treat it even three months after it's healed? Will this pain stay with me my whole life? I don't have insurance, so going to a podiatrist is out of the question. Any info will help, thank you!
