lol i have done this many many times....THEY SUCK and hurt like a bitch eh... mine got so bad that dropping the bed sheets on it hurt like hell :(...as painful and touchy as it is i pull mine out too...i have a system..i use these really pointy tiny scissors ( i think they nose grooming ones or something) and i dig until i hit it...i tilt it up enough to where i can see it and hold that position ...carefully grab it with tweezers ( make sure you have a good grip)...then i yank it out...then i let alcohol soak in the crack .....my toe is infection free until it grows back....i have heard that you are NOT supposed to cut your nails on an angle....just straight across but i can seem to do that cause the damn thing never lets my nail grow that far before i cut the corner of it to get at the ingrown bastard.....best of luck to you ...i feel your pain lol FYI if you have it removed or burnt out with chemicals from the doctor, there is no gaurentee it wont come back...mine did

I have had many ingrown toenails over the years and I have never gone to the doctor to have one removed. If it is not too ingrown, you can use a pointed nail file to pull up the edge and use nail clippers to trim it off. If you have a steady hand, you can use the nail clippers to pull it up and cut it off. You can also use cuticle trimmers. If it is too ingrown, I would see a doctor. It also might help if you had someone help you. My dad had to cut my first one out for me. Be careful.
