Toenail fungus question! HELP!?

I started taking Diflucan once a week for my toenail fungus about a month ago and I also started using the Nonyx Nail Gel. My nails seemed to be all cleared up already, but they are still thick! Will the thickness grow out eventually or should I start filing them down and continue with the Nonyx Nail Gel treatment?? I was hoping the thickness would grow out, but I don’t know how long that will take!

    Hi Lilac,
The thing to remember is – even though you may feel as though you are rid of the fungus it may still come back. You say you have been applying a treatment for a month or so, this is an incredibly short amount of time to base any results on – the disfugurement of the nail has not fully grown out yet I would imagine, you have just controlled the fungus material beneath the nail.
Have you considered using a home remedy, for instance a vinegar solution foot bath. Some (not all) pharmeceutically produced treatments can have a detrimental effect on your liver if taken long term. You have used Diflucan for a month and controlled the infection, now use something natural longer term to iad prevention in the future

Well I heard it takes 6 months for a nail to grow all the way out. That’s all the way from the cuticle. I would just keep clipping them and let it grow out. Constant filing of them might cause ingrown toenail.

there are two things that really help for that. apply tea tree oil to your nails, or you can soak your feet in apple cider vinigar.

if it still remains then go have it checked out.

I recently over filed a nail at the bottom. I was trying to buff it and got carried away or something. Anyway it almost was filed away. That was in late December and based on where it is now it will probably be next month before I can clip it off. So give it another month and if you can’t tell by then that it’s starting to get thinner, ask a doctor.
