I am so desperate about my ingrown toenail! I suffered this for years! Here’s what happened:
I had an ingrown toenail for the first time in 2008 due to wrong cutting of my toenail in my big toe. I already had a surgery done by a surgeon and it really helped a lot but only for a short period of time. The surgeon removed the entire nail for it was infected but after 6 months, when the nail is starting to grow, it became an ingrown toenail again. then, a few months later, I decided to have a surgery again to ease the pain of my toe so I went to a family doctor and she repeated the removal of my entire toenail. 6 months later, when the nail grows back, it is now starting to become an ingrown toenail again. to make it short, I already had 2 surgery with the different doctor but the ingrown toenail is reoccurring! What should I do? It hurts like hell whenever it is being pressed! I spent so much money with this but nothing happened! What must I do to end this curse? Sorry for making you read this long. :’(
I had the same problem with both of my toenails and had surgery on both. However, they didn’t remove my whole toenail and that could be the reason that your toenail keeps growing ingrown. They’re not setting a guideline for the toenail to follow as it grows back in. On both toenails, my doc deadened and cut out the ingrown side and left the other side alone and both are doing fine. One was more serious than the other and had to be cut a little more so it looks a little strange but I haven’t had any pain since or any ingrown toenails and that was 4 or 5 years ago. I would find a completley new doctor and ask him/her about it and if they want to do surgery again ask exactly what they’re going to do and get a 2nd opinion and if you still dont feel comfortable then dont waste your money…some doctors can be big rip offs. Good luck and I hope it gets better =(
btw:you could try the V-cut in the middle of your toenail thing but you have to cut it a little deep for it to affect anything and even then it might not work. It never worked for me anyways. good luck!
Try a podiatrist, but ask around about who’s the best in your community. Many will remove the toenail, but your recurrence shows chronicity that demands a specialist.
