Will this pain on the top of my foot ever go away?

I hurt my foot back in November with what my doctor speculates was probably an injury to a tendon. The pain has since gone away (it took weeks to heal), but now it’s acting up every once in a while. Just walking, I would feel the pain again. I know what it’s like to have those "old sores" that act up on cold days or during activity, but this pain is stopping me from getting much needed exercise. I don’t want to do too much exercise for fear that I’ll re-injure my foot, since I exercised yesterday, and am still feeling some light pain when I walk today.

I need to know if this pain will ever go away, or if I’m doing harm by trying to work out. I’m not doing anything labor intensive – I mean, one day, I was doing YOGA and I could feel it twinging on me. Yesterday, I was trying to do a bit of dancing, and it felt fine yesterday, it’s sore today, though. I don’t want to limit my activity, but I also don’t want to make this pain worse.

Has anyone ever had an injury to a tendon like mine, and know how to treat it even three months after it’s healed? Will this pain stay with me my whole life? I don’t have insurance, so going to a podiatrist is out of the question. Any info will help, thank you!

  1. A Lee says:

Sounds like you might need a trip to the local podiatrist to get a through assessment.

You need to turn the ‘speculation’ into a ‘diagnoses’ so you can treat the problem.

Sounds like an issue with foot posture, and muscle imbalance.

    Good luck.
