I am going to see a doctor on this, but, when I first get out of bed I have a sharp pain on the instep of my right foot. After a few steps it seems to be fine… any ideas as to the cause?

plantar faciiatis – try some stretching exercises- you can find them on the internet, take an anti-inflammatory or use actipatch, might need to lose weight? possibly need new shoes?
if the pain worsens or does not resolve, go see a podiatrist- you may need a nightsplint
It could be you akillees tendon has been overly streatched in some way! OUCH
Possibly plantar fasciitis. Do this and it should go away. From a long sitting position or lying on your back keep the legs out straight. Make sure that the knees are straight and there is no bend in them while this is being done. Have the muscles of the feet pull the feet up towards the knees. You will know that this is working for that will cause a stretching in the calves. Hold that stretch for a few seconds and relax. Do that ten times right before going to bed and right before getting out of bed. Once you are familiar with this movement it can be done sitting and standing along with the way that was given. You can also do this movement. Squat down but keep your heels on the floor. This may require you to hold onto something for a while until you are able to do this movement without holding onto anything. Stay in that position for thirty seconds. These two movements usually stop plantar fasciitis pain for as long as they are done consistently.
