What is a bunion?

I have a knob of bone on one foot towards above my inner arch and not on the other one sometimes it has a weird ache. Anyone know if this is just some sort of gentic defect or what?

  1. eclecticdoctor says:

    from dictionary.com:

inflammation of the synovial bursa of the great toe, usually resulting in enlargement of the joint and lateral displacement of the toe.

In plain english, the joint sac of the big toe is swollen, pushing the toe out.
