is it worth it to go to the Dr. for a heel spur, since there really is no cure?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Please don’t wait around in pain waiting for some magic cure for heel spurs. There are so many things that can be done to help relieve any pain you might have.

I’ve had heel spurs (both feet!) for years. Mine had never really bothered me until 2002. When the pain started, it was horrible! I couldn’t walk or stand without crying. When I would sit to get some relief, the pain was even more intense.

Finally I went to the doc, and after tests, x-rays, etc., I had orthopedic inserts for my shoes, night splints, and therapy. Nothing helped. Finally I had injections in both my heels. Finally I had some relief. At least of my left foot pain. The right continued getting worse until finally my doc sent me to a foot and ankle specialist.

After more testing and more testing and more testing, it was found that there was a tumor in my right heel. I had the option of surgery to remove it or allowing it to continue to grow. I went with the surgery, of course. A year and a half later I had more surgery on the same foot. Little by little my right foot is getting better.

My left foot; however, hasn’t had pain from the heel spur since the injection. Again…don’t wait!
