I have plantar fascitis mostly in the ball of my foot on both feet, however a friend of mine has it only in her heel area. I went to the podiatrist (and raked up an $800 bill because they are vultures like that) which gave me cortisone shots in my arches for about 6 months to no relief. I have the night fighter splints that I cannot use because they invert the foot and are pure agony to me. Also, they made me buy the walking boot, it’s still in my closet unused.
Save yourself some money if you haven’t already started a podiatrist… take a coke bottle, fill with water and put in freezer, roll underneath your feet at night. Also I have Happy Feet insoles which help alot, you can order a pair for about $40 from happyfeet.com. One more thing, try a towel to flex under your foot while sitting on the floor.
Oh yeah, try not to go barefooted.
Good luck!
Take and freeze a water bottle, then roll your foot over it. Do it for 10-15 minutes, several times though out the day. The cold takes the swelling down. It really works. Good Luck.
Try this for the management of this condition. Learn to do this exercise in this position first and then it can be done in multiple ones thereby speeding recovery. Get into a long sitting position with the knees straight. Have the muscles of the foot pull the front of foot towards the knees. There should be a stretching sensation in the calves. Hold that pull for ten seconds and repeat that four more times. This stretch can be done sitting, standing, or lying down. The more the better. A simple technique that stretches the fascia and as long as you do this it should stay away.
