That is the last option. The spur is not the source of your pain it is the soft tissue around the spur. Use 2 or 3 inch tape that doeasn't stretch. Hold the tape like a stirrup and pull it up into your arch tightly and up the sides of your foot. Repeat with 2 more overlapping pieces. Wear shoes with an arch support. See my website below.
