does plantar fasciitis go away?

I’ve had plantar fasciitis for over two years. I’m currently a senior in high school and this injury has prevented me from doing sports. (I was a three sport varsity athlete freshman year, now I’m basically not doing anything). I’ve been constantly going to the podiatrist and physical therapist several times a month for over a year. Has there ever been a case where plantar fasciitis never healed? My plan was to enlist in the Marine Corps but if this never goes away, I won’t be able to.

I’ve had plantar fasciitis for over 10 years. Recently I purchased a pair of New Balance runners. They are amazing! The hell (heel) pain is almost gone. Although they cost $150 – not bad compared to the $800 I paid for inserts. I am getting a new pair of inserts as well.

There is a drug used for fibromyalgia called Lyrica. Again, very expensive but it works for Plantar fasciitis. I don’t know about you, but when your feet hurt youcan’t do much of anything, so ANYTHING that helps is alright.

I hope this helps you like it helped me!

    Good luck.

No brother.. it never goes away

it gets worse and worse over time.. cause u keep walking on that foot.. or ur feet.. all u can do is just try to take it easy..

if u keep abusing ur disease.. u could fracture ur feet and end up being broken.. so take care of what u have now.. since ur soo young..

i was diagnosed with the same thing.. even getting a minor fracture.. after joining the U.S Marine corps back in 2002 after high school.. now think about what ive been through.. two tours to iraq.. combat tours.. and finally getting out in 2008..

From my personal point of view.. take care of your body.. u have it once.. and just cant buy new Bones in ur feet LOL

talk to your doctor about surgery. that might be your only option for relief. otherwise i would suggest stretching exercises, but if you are doing physical therapy you are prolly already doing that.

I too had this problem and solved it in this way. I purchased heel cushions from a company named Footsmart–and then decided to wear nothing but well made sneakers with the cushions for a few weeks. It took the pressure off the plantar area and really worked.
Warm soaks helped too and stretching. The cushions were on a slant with the heels higher than the arch area–you’ll need a deeper sneaker to accommodate.
Alternatively –you can get fit for molded orthotics by your podiatrist and though they are somewhat spendy, insurances often cover all or part of the cost if made by and M.D.
