Does driving cause tendonitis type pain on the top of the foot and how do I fix it?

Hi there. The top of my right foot has been hurting recently and feels similar (although less severe) to tendonitis that I had there from skiing years and years ago (not the same injury though, that definitely healed up ages ago). The pain is along the top of the metatarsals of my big toe and the one next to it. The only thing that I can think of that I am doing differently is driving quite a bit in the last few weeks – over an hour per day I’d say. My car is quite old so perhaps needs more foot work to use the pedals than a modern car, but it is also a small 1L Japanese car and I am quite tall so it’s not that I am over-reaching to get to the pedals. I wear fairly standard trainers when driving so nothing too flexible or too stiff in terms of the sole.

Assuming the driving is the cause, what can I do about it other than driving less or changing cars? Neither of those are options at the moment unfortunately.

Thanks!
