Does anyone know how to get rid of heel spurs?

My heels hurt all the time, especially after work or walking a long time.
Is there anything that I can do, besides the obvious and going to the doctor?

yes.. you can go to the doctor and they can inject some type of steriod into your heal. It helps with the inflammation because there is some kind of fluid that builds up in the heal that is causing you pain. This will take care of it in a matter of a few days. You can only do one heal at a time so if its both heals you’ll have to get 2 different appointments set up…you stay off your foot for the first day and thats it.. its doesnt hurt anymore..

try going to a beach and take a long barefoot walk in wet sand. repeat two or three times per week, doctors not really needed.

My mother had this problem my father got some foam and cut a hole where the spur would be when the foam was placed in her shoe it cushioned her heel and gave her some relief but as far as I know surgery is the only way to truly get rid of it.

since I lost 40 lbs in weight my heel spurs have not bothered me for 3 years. There are plenty of different tennis shoes etc on the market to cushion the heel and of course good old Motrin but if you are overweight losing weight might be your best bet.

Nope…I had spurs on the main joint of the big toes, was hurting and finally went to the podiatrist and scheduled surgury. Found out that a lot of people put it off till it intergrows into the joint (where they can’t get at it) and causes permenant damage. Sorry, surgury is the only solution.
