Okay so, I’m 14 and going into high school. Dancing is a HUGE part of my life. I was a squad leader of the drill team in junior high and am trying out for the high school team next year. Dancing is what I live for. I just have one problem. Flippin crazy bunions. They run in the family, and bring me pain just walking in any style of shoes but sandals.. much less dancing. I wanted to try pointe, but just being on the box for more then 20 seconds brings me excruciating pain. And my feet are just plain ugly with them. I want to have surgery..But I’m scared that once the healing process is over, I wont be able to dance the same. But at the same time, I’m not sure if the pain is worth it. I’ve looked into it but nothing has really helped me enough to make a decision. If you have any advice I would deeply appreciate it. HELP!!
Well Britni, look at it this way. If you don’t have the surgery, you won’t be able to dance anyway Bunions don’t get better, they get worse with age. I say go for the surgery. If you are that passionate about dance, I would take the chance, because if you do nothing, your dancing career has ended before it really began.
Good luck Britni and I hope I see you on "So You Think You Can Dance".
