Or does a bunion always cause a problem? I’m 27 and have had one since I was younger and it never really bothered me (except to look at). Can I still go on wearing the shoes I want, being active and pretending it’s not even there or do I need to get it fixed? Thanks
I do not have bunion but I believe that you can live with it. In our classes, we are always taught that people have shortcomings but that doesn’t hinder them in achieving what they want.
You still don’t like it when you look at it right? In my opinion, that’s a sign of non-acceptance. First, you must accept the fact that you have hallux valgus (bunion). Only then can you do best in the activities that you do. Remember something similar in your childhood. Say for example, when your mom forced you to eat the vegetables on your plate. You don’t like it that’s why you eat slowly, wearing a very disagreeing face. That’s what will happen. Whenever you do an activity, you’ll always be thinking about it and in turn your performance will not be that satisfying – both for you and others.
Try and think about it. And go see an occupational therapist~ they might be of help.
Bunions are usually not a social problem. So long as you are active and it does not bother, you can go along fine. But you also need to understand what you have in a medical sense, so as to not cause any future complication.
There are situations where treating bunions is a requirement due to medical reasons. But in most cases, one can get by for a number of years as they cause problems only in later stages or when a person has aged considerably.
