Arch supports for Plantar Fasciitis?

I have plantar fasciitis and need to get arch supports. I cannot afford custom made supports. What are the best over the counter supports that are available? I was looking at the Pro-Tech Arch Supports from Dick’s Sporting Goods but wanted more input before deciding.

Thanks!

I have that and my doctor told me not to buy actual orthodics but to buy orthodic type shoes.

These are the expensive shoes that have an arch support in them. Name brands are Birkenstock, Mephisto, Clarks, the shoes usually cost a little over $100.

I didn’t believe him when he said it would work but it did. I threw out all of my shoes without the arch support. I can now walk without limping.

I tried the supports you mentioned in the shoes I already owned, I spent a lot of money, but none of them worked.

Well first off arch support isn’t what you want. You need to first get a pair of shoes with a good sturdy sole. Look for a new balance with a roll bar system. Second, but a insert. Not for arch support, Soft Sole makes a GREAT insert called the graphite. Its going to keep your sole of your shoe from twisting. Also, dont not do your exercise the doctors tell you to do. this will only make things worse trust me i know. i work in a shoe store and and i see this everyday.

    1. Get a sturdy Shoe
    2. Soft Sole – Graphite ( medical grade)
    3. EXERCISE.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not but dr schools. they are SHIT.

Extensive medical research has found that a combination of proper exercises and arch support by wearing orthotic insoles can provide effective relief for plantar fasciitis.

Plantar Fasciitis is often caused by abnormal pronation of the foot and improper arch support. An explanation of the importance that proper arch support plays in controlling over-pronation, and some stretching exercises for relief are provided in the links below:

You might consider ice compression wraps for your feet.
