One Response to Mortons neuroma surgery?

Christine, I would have hoped that the surgeon would have sat down with you and explained all of this to you. Morton’s neuroma is a swelling of a distal portion of a nerve. What they have done is to excise this portion of the nerve and anytime that you are involved with nerve repair it is going to be painful. The use of the walking shoe is to prevent extra stress on the foot thereby increasing the stress to the surgical area. In a few days this will start to subside but it is going to take time. When it heals up the area that the nerve controlled is going to feel funny but with further time it will become normal in its feel to you. As for the bleeding this is also normal in the beginning but if it continues check with your doctor as it might be a potential problem. Just follow the post operative instructions about keeping the foot elevated, not changing bandages until they are supposed to be done, and walking.
