morton neuroma?

My doctor say’s I may have to have surgery. I can’t afford it becuase my deductible is so high. If I don’t have it and just continue on with the pain. Is there any long term problems just besides being in pain? Can I just go on like this? I currently have swelling from this also on the bottom of my foot.

I have a Morton’s neuroma but it doesn’t sound as severe as yours. I have slight swelling, and I wear a special insert inside my shoe which is designed for that purpose. It opens up the foot joints and takes the pressure off. I believe I developed this because I stood all day on concrete at my job. Although I tried all kinds of insoles, it still developed. I would make sure you see a podiatrist and get a second opinion on the surgery. Ask the doctor to recommend non-surgical alternatives because I have heard that foot surgery is very tricky. However, I do have a friend who had surgery for Morton’s neuroma and she is doing ok with it. Good luck and get that second opinion and go to the Footsmart web catalog. They have a very good insert especially for your problem.
