I’m having hammertoe surgery. What am I looking at? Anybody ever had it. Painful?

    My spouse had that surgery. The Dr. gave him pills for the pain, but as long as you keep it elevated and iced for the first 24 hours after surgery, you should be OK.
    You will probably get a dorky lookin' boot/shoe to wear for the post-surgical period. Deal. It's ugly, but it DOES protect your toe from ANY potential damage. Since you just paid a gignormous amount to get it fixed AND it's gonna hurt like heck if anything hits it…you're really smart to wear it.
    The healing will go a LOT faster if you keep as clean and dry as you possibly can. Keep it elevated as much of the time as possible for as long as you can. Follow ALL of your Doc's post-surgical instructions for the best results.
