I'm 25 and having bunion removal surgery and hammertoe surgery on my right foot done in a couple weeks. I have very large bunions on both feet and ideally wanted to get both feet done at the same time but my Doctor advised to get one done at a time. I'm hoping to get the left foot done asap, maybe even while the right is still healing. Anyone out there had bunion surgery? How long did you have to keep off your feet? Were you satisfied with the surgery? How was the pain? I'm wondering how long it's going to be until I can get back to work. My husband and I also are going on a Caribbean cruise in November and I hope I'm fully healed by then.
i have had both feet operated on. i advise you to have your surgery done a year apart for each foot. that's what i did. i was on crutches for six weeks and had a boot for two weeks but when you walk without the book there's still a lot of pain and limping. i didn't fully heal on my right foot for about a year and that's when i decided to do my left. i do not think it's a good choice to do them around the same time. i know how you're feeling cause i wanted both done at the same time too, but healing will take much longer and it will be too dificutl to get around.
i'm very satisfied. my toe isn't completely flat where the bunion was, as most people's are, but the most important part is that i'm out of pain on my right foot and am losing pain on my left (recovering from surgery in feb still). the pain was bad at first but you get used to it, and you get a good pain killer that will help you out. you will most deff be fine to go on the trip. like i said, you won't be fully recovered, you'll experience pain throughout the year, but you'll be running about three months after surgery. at least i was.
My mom had it about 2 years ago, couldn't walk for a couple of days it sucked.
