Reccuring injuries/pain from broken ankle?

I broke my ankle and tore my Achilles tendon fairly badly in the same accident.. I had all the surgeries and stuff – the doctors said I was better.. That was 8 years ago. Now, I’m starting to notice that whenever I run or take my kickboxing classes that ankle heats up and becomes VERY painful for the next few days. I was wondering if anything can be done about this or if I have to deal with those random pains for the rest of my life..?

    I don’t think you have to deal with a severe pain repeatedly after the surgeries and treatments 8 years ago. There must be another tear or something else going on.
    I’d see a physician to make sure nothing else is triggering for you to experience that much of pain.

    I also had torn a ligament badly from skiing 10 years ago. I’d used to have discomfort, some swelling and dull pains. Now, no pain, just a bit of limitation in range of motion.

    Sorry..hope your doctor finds the cause and treats you accordingly :) :}

    Ankles are very critical joints because they do alot of work through the connection between foot and leg. Also the Achilles is a very integral part of the body. That’s why if you sustain an injury as serious as a broken ankle it can affect you throughout the rest of your life. My only advice would be the old rice method (rest, ice, compression, elevation) so rest after a heavy workout, ice the joint or Achilles if there’s pain, compress it using an ankle support or suitable support and elevate it when resting, by just resting it on a couple of cushions for 20 mins or so. Hope that’s helped
